Plante polymorphe. Plante annuelle ou bisannuelle de 5-40 cm, acaule, pubescente ou velue; hampes étalées ou ascendantes, dépassant les feuilles
Écologie : (répartition d'après la flore) Chemins et lieux sablonneux, surtout dans le Midi, l'Ouest et le Centre. Pas fnoté chez nous.
Répartition hors de France : Europe centrale et méridionale; Mie occidentale ; Afrique septentrionale.

A very dwarf to rather slender, usually biennial plant with many flowering scapes 2-23 cm long ascending from a spreading or ascending rosette of leaves and a taproot.
Ecology UK: (distribution according to flora) an abundant plant of dry, sandy and gravelly places and walls and rocks, especially near the sea, throughout the British Isles.

Fleurs : épi cylindrique ou oblong, grêle, serré; bractées ovales-acuminées sépales postérieurs à carène ciliée; corolle jaunâtre, à tube velu, à lobes aigus

Flowers: 3 mm long, sessile, in a rather long spike on a hairy peduncle; sepals ovate, ciliate, two united and scarious on the margin; corolla brownish, lobes linear-lanceolate, acute; stamens pale yellow; filaments as long as corolla tube.
